Zygomatic implants

Zygomatic implants

Zygomatic implants are a type of dental implant used to support dental prostheses, such as dentures or bridges, in cases where there is severe bone loss in the upper jaw. Unlike traditional dental implants that are placed in the jawbone, zygomatic implants are anchored in the cheekbone (zygomatic bone). This technique is typically used when there is insufficient bone in the upper jaw to support conventional dental implants.

Zygomatic implants are longer and traverse the maxillary sinus, providing stability and support for dental restorations. The placement of zygomatic implants requires specialized training and expertise. It is a complex procedure that is usually performed under general anesthesia.

By utilizing zygomatic implants, individuals with significant bone loss in the upper jaw can still benefit from dental prostheses, improving their ability to speak, eat, and smile with confidence. Zygomatic implants offer a viable solution for patients who would otherwise be unable to receive conventional dental implants due to insufficient bone volume in the upper jaw.
